What is the 6th Chakra?  

THIRD EYE CHAKRA/BROW CHAKRA (EYE OF SHIVA) (Pituitary) (Indigo) (Ajna) (Diamond). Centre of intuition and inner wisdom.  Connected with brain, eyes and central nervous system.  Psychic perception and understanding of the Oneness of the Universe. The Sixth Chakra is the Celestial Body or "Third Eye". It is the Pineal Centre. The vibration of this centre is purple or violet. It is the Celestial Body that holds our individual future and is our access to the future. The skin on the body vibrates purple.

The Third Eye chakra is about insight and visualization. When it is open, you have strong precise intuition and even psychic abilities.  

If it is under-active, you tend to be unable to make decisions and lean on others for guidance. You may be opinionated in your thinking, relying on dogmatic beliefs. You could easily become confused. 

If this chakra is over-active, you may experience too many fantasies and in excessive cases you may even have hallucinations and paranoia 

SIXTH CHAKRA: THIRD EYE (BROW CHAKRA)
LOCATION: Between and about one finger-breadth above the eyebrows.
COLOUR: Indigo
ELEMENT: The higher expression of all signs.
FUNCTIONS: The centre of psychic power, higher intuition, the energies of the spirit, magnetic forces, and light. Clairvoyance, healing addictions.
GLANDS/ORGANS: Pituitary gland, cerebellum, ears, nose, sinuses, eyes, central nervous system.
GEMS/MINERALS: Lapis lazuli, indigo, sapphire, sodalite.

FOODS: chlorophyll, breath, air.
ASSOCIATED AROMAS: Mint, jasmine.
SENSORY FUNCTION: all, inc. ESP.
QUALITIES/LESSONS: Higher consciousness, emotional and spiritual love centre, spiritual inner sight, clairvoyance. When balanced, the mind (right hemisphere) and brain (left hemisphere) function in a unified field. Insight ensues and its practical application becomes a daily occurrence. It also assists in the purification of negative tendencies and in the elimination of selfish attitudes.
NEGATIVE QUALITIES: Worry, hysteria, stress, fear, shock, irritation, depression, headaches, speech and weight problems.

The sixth chakra is the energy centre of intuition, intellect and reasoning. Known as the “third eye”, it involves our mental abilities, and our psychological skill at evaluating our beliefs and attitudes.  

Sacred Truth: Seek Only the Truth 

Continually search for the difference between truth and illusion, the two forces present at every moment. Trust what you cannot see far more than what you can see.

SIXTH CHAKRA: THIRD EYE  

The SIXTH CHAKRA is situated between the eyebrows in the region of the forehead and is called "Ajna" chakra. This chakra governs the conscious mind and will power, and is related to the intuition; plane of love and bliss ruled by the planet Mercury_. When Mercury is in a beneficial position in a horoscope, the native can develop intuitive powers and attain a blissful state of consciousness, full of poise and piety. Such a person can prophesize on all matters and his word appears as an oracle. Afflicted Mercury denotes a dull mind, and a selfish and cunning attitude full of ignorance and envy. 

The Third Eye Chakra, located just above the centre point between the eyebrows. It spins extremely fast, and is associated with the colour Indigo or purple. It is the centre of visual, psychic and intuitive perception, and its’ attributes are clairvoyance, memory, dreams and vision. So we are now in the realms of the intangible. 

A dream is not something we can actually touch, but by holding on to it, and by building it into a strong picture in our mind, we are taking the first step towards making that dream a reality. This visualisation process, when combined with the creativity of the Sacral Chakra, the Will of the Solar Plexus and the balance and love of the Heart Chakra, and then expressed at the Throat Chakra, can be an excellent exercise for the Third Eye Chakra. 

As this Chakra rules the eyes and pineal gland, when it is not in balance, we can experience eye problems, headaches and nightmares, or in extreme cases, hallucinations or blindness. 

To clear this Chakra, we need to maintain the innocence of a child by getting away from the cynical approach of seeing what we expect to see, and start to see and experience everything as if it were for the first time. Motional balance 

This chakra is the centre for clairvoyance, visions, and transcendence of time and space in thinking. It radiates a clear, green light, and people who have begun to develop the ability so see more than most people, have a shining ball located in the area of this chakra. This ball protects, and draws energy into the brain. 

This is the centre for psychic ability, higher intuition, the energies of spirit and light. It also assists in the purification of negative tendencies and in the elimination of selfish attitudes. Through the power of the sixth chakra, you can receive guidance, channel, and tune into your Higher Self. When this chakra is not balanced you may feel non-assertive, afraid of success, or go the opposite way and be egotistical.  

Physical symptoms may include headaches, blurred vision, blindness, and eyestrain. When this chakra is balanced and open you are your own master with no fear of death, are not attached to material things, and may experience telepathy, astral travel, and past lives. 

The Third Eye chakra is about insight and visualization. When it is open, you have a good intuition. You may tend to fantasize. If it is under-active, you're not very good at thinking for yourself, and you may tend to rely on authorities. You may be rigid in your thinking, relying on beliefs too much. You might even get confused easily. If this chakra is over-active, you may live in a world of fantasy too much. In excessive cases hallucinations are possible. 

How to work Your Sixth Chakra 

• Allow 'Seek Only Truth' to penetrate your body  
• Focus your attention upwards to your mind - the world behind your eyes.  
• Go beyond the limits of the rational mind and accept the Divine's Plan for you.  
• Prepare your mind to enter the day feeling good and not generating illusions, false truths or fears.  
• For today, release old grudges, beliefs, attitudes and patterns that no longer serve you.  
• Remember that everything in your life is there for a reason and to teach you truth.  

How to train Your Sixth Chakra 

1. Focus your attention on your mind.  
2. Ask yourself, "Did I invest my energy today in any negative attitudes, beliefs or perceptions?"  
3. If so, identify them, take a deep breath, call that energy back and release it with the thought "I don't need this negativity."  
4. Review any and all judgments you made about yourself or others take a very deep breath and release them.  
5. Look at the positive things you invested in today and be grateful  
6. Repeat the prayer, "I release the desire to know why things happen as they do and the need to have my expectations met."  

Questions for Self-Examination 

1.       Do you often interpret the actions of others in a negative way? If so, why?  

2.       What negative patterns continually surface in your relationships with others?  

3.       What attitudes do you have that disempowered you?  

4.       What beliefs do you continue to accept that you know are not true?  

5.       Are you judgmental? If so, what situations or relationships bring out that tendency?  

6.       Do you make excuses for behaving in negative ways?  

7.       Recall instances in which a more profound level of truth than you were used to hearing was revealed. Was the experience intimidating?  

8.       What beliefs and attitudes in yourself would you like to change? Can you commit to making those changes?  

9.       Are you comfortable thinking about your life in impersonal terms?  

10.    Do you know you need to change but continually postpone taking action? If so, identify those situations and your reasons for not acting?  

The third eye chakra relates to the development of psychic skills and intuition, inner senses, perception, self-mastery, mind power, manifestation and projection of our will. It is located at the brow, just above the bridge of the nose.Senses: extra sensory perception (ESP)

Problems associated with blocks at the third eye include headaches, sinusitis, colds and flu, paralysis, pimples, nightmares, impaired vision, and the inability to think clearly and focus the mind.
