Your first step is along the reiki path. The reiki attunement connects you to the source of the healing energy, which you can then start to channel. You can use this to help heal yourself and others. Reiki is a great tool for self-discovery and, whilst not a 'cure-all' for life's challenges, may certainly help you to deal with those challenges far better.  

Very often having a reiki 1 attunement brings out a lot of emotional baggage in a person - it was certainly that way for others and me those I have attuned. This is due to the reiki clearing out negative energy blocks within your body, which you facilitate through the self-healing sessions. This is also known as a cleansing cycle and everybody experiences it slightly differently: for some it is vivid dreams, for others an actual detoxification process.

Reiki is a simple technique of energy transmission through the hands, heart, eyes, breath heart and Intentions. It is a method which can be easily learned by anyone and is used for healing. Reiki was discovered by Dr. Mikao Usui in Japan.

1^st Degree Reiki

At 1st Degree you receive three attunements on the crown, 3^rd eye and palm CHAKRA, which allow a greatly increased energy flow through your body. A Reiki healing is a great example of letting everything be as it is, of doing by not doing but just simply being there, of going with the flow.   

One of the truths of Reiki namely is, that the healee - not the healer - decides the amount of needed energy and for what aim this energy will be used. The healer is a channel, a facilitator who passes on positive energy, but the healer is never the one who actually does the healing; that is the interaction between the healee and universal life-energy.   

The free will of the person who receives healing decides to which level healing will take place and the Reiki energy will do the work. The task of the healer is to have the intent to let healing or improvement take place and to passively allow the energy to flow through the healer's hands to the healee. In short: the one who needs healing somehow decides "I want to receive", the Reiki practitioner somehow decides "I want to give" and this connection in openness and love is enough to let the Reiki flow.   

Most of the time Reiki will be experienced as warmth or heat and as if a blanket of loving attention is put over you. But other sensations like coldness, tingling, prickling, throbbing, shivering, emotional release, memories popping up or no sensation at all are possible too.
